A berry is a small physical object that travels between people. Each one has a page at bassberry.io that anyone holding the berry can open and read. The page shows the berry's name and its journey — the checkpoints people have added as it moved from hand to hand.

BassBerry is built on one idea: a berry is carried, never kept. When a berry reaches you, the physical object is yours to hold — but you do not own its name, its page, or its record, and it is meant to be passed on to the next stranger rather than held onto. Nobody owns a berry in the way that word is usually meant, and a berry is never traded for money between the people who carry it. Passing it on is the whole point; it is encouraged, not something we enforce.

The first person to awaken a berry gives it a name. That happens once. The name can never be changed afterward — not by the awakener, not by a later carrier, and not by us on request. This is deliberate. It is worth understanding before you reserve: a berry's name is final the moment it is set.

A checkpoint is a short note — a place, and sometimes a few words — that a carrier adds to a berry's journey. Checkpoints are append-only: once added, a checkpoint cannot be edited or deleted, by the person who wrote it or by anyone else. The journey only grows; it never rewrites itself. The single exception is narrow and covers abuse only — see “Content we can remove” below.

Every berry page is reachable by anyone who has the berry's address — there is no login and nothing private about it. A checkpoint carries no name or identity: what you write is attached to the berry, not to you. Even so, treat a checkpoint as public and permanent, because it is. Do not write anything into one that you would not want to stay visible for good.

Berries are offered as pre-orders. Payment is handled by Stripe; we never receive or keep your full card details. You are charged when you reserve, and berries from the Open Eye pre-order ship on October 20, 2026. Cancellations and refunds are covered in our Refund policy.

We ship within the United States only, for a flat $4.99 per order, charged once per order. Risk of loss passes to you on delivery. If a berry arrives damaged or not as described, the Refund policy explains what we will do.

You are responsible for what you add to a berry — the words you write, and any image you attach. Do not add anything unlawful, threatening, hateful, harassing, or that is not yours to share — no private information about other people, nothing that infringes someone else's rights. Because checkpoints are permanent, this matters more here than on most sites: there is no taking it back.

By adding a checkpoint, you grant BassBerry a perpetual, worldwide, royalty-free license to keep and display it — text and any image — as part of the berry's public journey.

A checkpoint can include one photo, and everything above applies to it. We keep a smaller copy of the photo with its location and camera details removed, and never the original file.

We generally cannot and will not change what people write — that is the point of append-only. We keep one narrow ability, for abuse: we can remove the contents of a checkpoint that is abusive or illegal. Removal clears the text from public view; it never lets us edit it into something else, and it is never available to carriers. We use it sparingly, and the record that a removal happened remains part of the journey.

There is no login and no password. When you need to prove an email address is yours, we send a six-digit code to it. That is the whole of it — nothing to sign into and nothing to manage.

BassBerry is provided “as is,” without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent the law allows. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, and our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us for the berry the claim concerns. Some places do not allow these limits, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

We may update these terms; the date at the top shows when they last changed. If a change is significant and affects an open pre-order of yours, we will email you.

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Utah, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute is handled in the state or federal courts located in Utah.
